  Two Wanted Men Arrested after Traffic Stop web posted January 29, 2013 JOHNSTON – Two wanted men were arrested following a traffic stop by Johnston Police just after 2 am Saturday after the officer saw the driver swerve partially off the roadway to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him on Lee Street. The officer informed the driver he was being stopped for following too close and asked for his drivers license, which he was having trouble finding. The driver then asked if he could open the door and the officer said yes. When the door was opened the officer saw an open bottle of Brandy in the car and asked who it belonged to and the driver replied "my homeboy", an incident report states. Another officer arrived on the scene and the driver and the passenger were asked to step out of the car. After checking the information on both men, the driver, Avila Panton, 25, of Brooklyn New York was found to be driving under suspension and was wanted out of Union, South Carolina. He was taken into custody and was charged for driving under suspension and an ABC (alcohol) violation. The passenger, 29 year old Eddie James Howell, of Saluda, was wanted out of Saluda County. Johnston Police also charged him with an ABC violation.
