Johnston man facing burglary charges web posted January 30, 2007 JOHNSTON – A Johnston woman and her 18 year-old daughter called police to report a man trying to climb into the daughter’s bedroom window in search of sex. According to police reports the 38-year-old man first knocked on the daughter’s window and asked her to come outside and she told him “no” and turned over in the bed away from the window. She then heard a noise and noticed the man had taken the screen out of the window, opened it, and was trying to climb inside. The man could not get all the way inside due to his jacket getting caught on the frame. The man, according to the daughter, kept telling her to “come on” and offered her $100. It was then the daughter called for her mother. The man left and got on a bicycle and fled the area, but not before the mother saw him and recognized him a a man she once dated. After giving all the information to Johnston Police an officer located the man at a home on Jackson Street. After talking to the man he admitted he had been at the house in question. Police arrested James Edward Brown, 38, of the 90 block of Aiken Avenue, and charged him with burglary in the first degree. It was not clear if a second charge of solicitation of sex would be added.
