Strom Thurmond FFA Ladies in the SC Miss FFA Pageant

JOHNSTON Taylor Cordovano, a member of the Pelion High FFA chapter won the 2014 Miss FFA pageant on January 17 at the Lexington Three Fine Arts Center in Batesburg-Leesville. Forty-five young ladies from FFA chapters across the state competed in the annual event. The top five finalists in the pageant included: first runner up, Tiffany Smith, Pickens County Career and Technology Center; second runner up, Casey Nix, Pendleton High; third runner up, Morgan Spaulding, Strom Thurmond Career & Technology Center; and fourth runner up, Bayleah Jackson, Pelion High.  

The young ladies were judged on their application and on-stage appearance.  From these scores, the top 10 finalists were selected. Each of these finalists then answered a question concerning FFA onstage.

Strom Thurmond contestants were 11th grader Leigh Northrop, and 12th graders Rachel Farmer and Morgan Spaulding. Alana Thurmond and Karson Barrett, Strom Thurmond FFA members, assisted the girls in getting ready for the pageant.
The Miss FFA Pageant is sponsored by the Batesburg-Leesville High School FFA chapter and Libby Templeton, advisor for the chapter, serves as director of the pageant.

Allie Jhant, 2013 Miss FFA & former Strom Thurmond FFA member served as Mistress of Ceremonies.

Dr. Darla Steele and Mr. Jeremy Brooks serve as the Strom Thurmond FFA Advisers at Strom Thurmond Career & Technology Center.
