Johnston Police seek three local men on drug charges

web posted February 14, 2007

JOHNSTON – Johnston Police Chief Chris Aston said his department is looking for three wanted alleged drug dealers that are on the run from police. Michael Deon Norris, 26, Rico Antonio Norris, 23 both of the 600 block of Ridge Road, and Blake Marcell Clark, 18, of Lakeview Drive in Johnston are wanted for drug warrants stemming from a drug raid in Johnston a little over two weeks ago. “They’re running right now,” Chief Aston said, adding that his department wants to bring them into custody as soon as possible.

Chief Aston said the arrest warrants were a result of the hard work his department has done to curb drug activity in the town and that of the Sheriff’s Office. “The Sheriff’s Office and the Narcotics Investigators have been a big help,” Aston said, “I want to thank them for everything they do assisting us.”

Chief Aston said the Norris brothers and Mr. Clark were able to elude arrest when the drug raid took place and that the three are “running scared”. The only good thing is, Chief Aston said, “if they are running they are not able to sell as many drugs while on the run.” The Chief hopes the general public will continue to assist local law enforcement in finding criminals and reporting suspicious activity. The public is the “eyes and ears” of law enforcement he said, “We cannot be everywhere all the time.” Citizen calls and information is a vital key to solving any type of crime Chief Aston said.

The drug activity in Johnston is unique to the county as Johnston is the only “border town” with its close proximity to Ridge Spring, Saluda, and other nearby towns and communities. This adds to the problem as the criminal element believe they can jump across the county line, conduct their illegal activities, and then cross back. However, Johnston has its share of homegrown criminal elements who think they can skirt the law as well. Chief Aston has a message for all of them, “If you sell drugs in Johnston, you will go to jail.”

The recent rise in arrests and drug cases the Johnston Police Department is making with the help of the Sheriff’s Narcotics Investigators is just getting started. “This is just the tip of the iceberg,” Chief Aston said adding that there will be more arrests in the coming weeks and that new cases are being opened on a regular basis.

If you have information to the whereabouts of Michael Deon Norris, Rico Antonio Norris, or Blake Marcell Clark you are asked to call the Johnston Police Department at 803-275-2488 or the Sheriff’s Dispatch at 803-637-5337. All information will be kept confidential.
