Woman Reports Attempted Rape

web posted February 20, 2014

JOHNSTON Johnston Police were called to the Edgefield County Hospital around 4 am Tuesday morning after a 64-year-old woman arrived and reported that a Johnston man confronted her as she walked along Lanier Road on her way back to her daughter's house. She reported the man punched her in the face knocking her backwards into the ditch and she lost conciseness for a short time.

When she awoke, she reported the man straddled atop her and he had her pants pulled down exposing her "private parts" and was attempting to "rape her", an incident report states.

The woman told the officer that she was able to fight off her attacker and told him she was going to call 911 and he left the area. Instead of calling 911, she continued to her daughter's house and the daughter took her to the Edgefield County Hospital.

The officer photographed the woman's injuries to her face and nose as well as a small gash on the back of her head from her falling.

The woman was able to identify her attacker by name and, according to the report, a warrant is being sought for his arrest.
