  Johnston Man Fights with Burglary Suspect web posted February 26, 2013 JOHNSTON – A 60-year-old Johnston man called 911 after he fought with a burglary suspect trying to break into his McCreight Road home Saturday morning. The homeowner told Sheriff's Deputies that he heard a noise that sounded like someone trying to break into the home and went to investigate. Upon arriving at the back door he observed a Hispanic male trying to pry the door open. The homeowner confronted the burglar and the two men began fighting and the younger male was able to break free and run from the scene. According to an incident report, the suspect then ran to a black Dodge truck, possibly a 4-wheel drive, which was parked behind a residence across from the peach field nearby. It was driven by another Hispanic male who was said to be "short and stout". The two suspects then left heading toward Johnston. Officers were unable to locate the suspects in the area. The homeowner was reportedly uninjured during the brief struggle. The only description of the suspected burglar is a Hispanic male standing 5' 10" tall with black hair and brown eyes.
