Johnston Drug Store Burglarized
web posted March 1, 2013 JOHNSTON – Johnston Police are
investigating a burglary at the Maxwell & Halford Drug Store that
took place early Monday morning. Another business owner and his wife
heading to work noticed the side door to the drug store "kicked open"
and remained on the scene until police arrived.
After a Sheriff's Deputy arrived the two officers cleared the building
and found no one inside. The owner was allowed to enter and reported
the only thing missing was an undisclosed amount of cash from a back
register.
No pharmaceuticals were missing from the prescription area of the store.
The scene was processed for evidence. Johnston Police recovered a brick
in Sawyers Alley that may have been used in an unsuccessful attempt to
break the lock off the door.
An incident report released on Thursday did not include any possible
suspects. The burglary is believed to have taken place between 5:30 am
and 6 am.
