Woman returns late at night to find break-in

JOHNSTON – A Johnston woman arrived at her Partridge Drive home around 11 pm Friday night to find it had been broken into. The woman believed the person or persons were still inside the home. Johnston Police arrived at the home within two minutes and entered the home searching each room and found no one inside. Once the woman was allowed to enter the home she found $3,000 worth of items missing.

The woman told police she entered the home and noticed her bedroom door open. She said she keeps that door shut. She then proceeded to the hallway where another closed door was open and she said it was then she heard a noise. The woman ran from the house and to a neighbor’s home to call police.

Officers discovered a window air conditioner pushed out of a window in one of the bedrooms. Outside there was a chair found close to the same window. A further search on the outside of the home what appeared to be a path in the grass and led to the discovery of a drawer taken from the home with several video game cases found inside and around the drawer.

Later several other game cases were found strew about in a nearby wooded area. Police gathered the cases and bagged them as evidence. A complete list of items taken was not available but the total value provided was placed at $3,000.

The case is currently under investigation. The nature of other evidence collect was not disclosed.
