Johnston Police make arrests within 24 hours of burglary

web posted March 21, 2007

JOHNSTON – The Johnston Police Department has made four arrests in a burglary to a Johnston business on Sunday. As EdgefieldDaily.com reported on Monday, the New Creations Beauty Shop on Edisto Street suffered the loss when someone entered the business through a back window. Johnston Police Chief Chris Aston confirmed Tuesday that his department has taken four juveniles into custody in connection to the crime. “One of them is 16 and he will be facing felony charges as an adult,” Chief Aston said.

The breaking news came as a result of the investigation by the Johnston Police Chief Aston said but the case was still developing throughout the day Tuesday. “We’re still investigating it right now,” he said but indicated that an official press release would be made available on Wednesday.

The four teens, said to be two 14-year-olds, a 15-year-old, and the 16-year-old to be charged as an adult, were not identified due to their age. Once formal charges are leveled against the 16-year-old his identity will be released Chief Aston said.

The pending charges will vary between burglary in the second degree and burglary in the first degree against the four teens. “These are felony charges,” Chief Aston said.
