JOHNSTON – Johnston Police were called to a disturbance at the QP Express on Lee Street Saturday afternoon. It seemed a customer pumped $33 in gas but refused to pay claiming he pumped only $9 in gas. The Officer arrived and spoke to the two sides of the matter and tried to settle the dispute.

The Officer spoke with the cashier who showed the Officer the receipt that printed out clearly showing $33 in gas being dispensed. When the Officer spoke to the man outside he stated he could prove he pumped only $9 in gas. The fuel gauge, he said, would absolve him of the cashiers claim since there would be very little gas in the car. The Officer checked the fuel gauge, which showed a full tank.

The Officer explained that due to his own evidence he would need to pay for the gas. At that time the female driver got out of the car and paid for the gas. Meanwhile, the man became very irate and wanted to know the Officer’s name and badge number because, “his uncle was (Name deleted) with the Saluda County Sheriff’s Office and he would take care of this matter.” After the Officer complied by giving the man the information the man and woman left.
