Great Sponsors are at the heart of the Johnston Peach Blossom Festival

web posted March 30, 2009
JOHNSTON – Let’s face it: Festivals are fun. That’s no different at the Johnston, S.C., Peach Blossom Festival, which will be held May 2, 2009.  But underlying all those good times are sponsors who make it possible to keep the Festival free or low-cost for patrons.  In addition, it helps raise additional money that can be used to help the Johnston area.

This year’s Johnston Peach Blossom Festival Corporate Sponsors are Edgefield County Hospital, First Citizens Bank, IGA, SCE&G and SRP Federal Credit Union.

The theme for this year’s Johnston Peach Blossom Festival is “A Johnston Homecoming.”

Last year, thousands of patrons descended on Johnston to enjoy the day set aside to honor the peach industry, which has been so important in the development of the area.  Each year, the Town goes all out with the Festival to remind citizens about the peach industry and to open its arms to visitors.

The popular Festival is taking applications for individuals, organizations or businesses interested in being a part of event in these areas:

•    Food vendors: Frank Davis, (803) 275-4786, 7 Heritage Trace, Johnston, SC 29832, lfrankdavis@bellsouth.net.
•    Arts and Crafts: John Timmerman, (803) 637-6866; 334 Woodridge Road, Edgefield, SC 29824, johntimm@bellsouth.net.
•    Parade: Roger Lamb, (803) 275-0438, 505 Roland Ave., Johnston, SC 29832;
•    Program Book Ads: Debra Aston, (803) 275-2345, 416 Lee St., Suite 2, Johnston, SC 29832, astond@bellsouth.net.

In addition to the areas listed above, the Festival also has a Friday, May 1, street dance in downtown Johnston, designed especially for families.  On the evening of May 2, the Festival concludes with a popular dance for 21 year olds and up.

For more information on the Festival, please contact Debra Aston, (803) 275-2345, or Tyra Miller, (803) 275-3264.

The Johnston Development Corporation, a non-profit volunteer organization, sponsors the Festival.  The Corporation works to aid the community in areas such as economic development, education, recreation, historic preservation, tourism, scientific and cultural opportunities, and continued promotion of Johnston.

EdgefieldDaily.com provides free advertisement to the Festival as a Public Service.
