Wanted man arrested in Johnston after stakeout web posted April 9, 2007 Below: Michael Norris (file photo) As EdgefieldDaily.com reported in February, Mr. Norris, his brother Rico Norris, and Blake Clark, all of Johnston, were wanted after escaping from a drug raid in late January. Chief Aston said Michael Norris was the one they wanted most, “It’ll just be a matter of time before we get Rico (Norris).” The arrest came after Sheriff’s Narcotics Officers and Johnston Police were notified that Mr. Norris was being required to sign for a check he was to receive. Officers staked out the location and when he arrived they arrested him. Chief Aston said he was certain Mr. Norris would remain in custody until his court date, “he is definitely a flight risk.” Mr. Norris has been charged with two counts of manufacture or distribution of crack cocaine, third offense, one count manufacture or possession of marijuana, third offense, possession with the intent to distribute within the proximity of a school or park, and a General Sessions bench warrant. A bond was set on Friday for $100,000. Jail records show that even if Mr. Norris managed to raise the bond money he would continue to be held on the bench warrant, which required he remain in custody until trial. No court date was available by Sunday. Chief Aston praised the collective efforts of the Sheriff’s Office and his department in stopping drug activity in Johnston. For
