  Johnston man arrested on charges of sexual assault of nine-year-old web posted April 11, 2008  JOHNSTON – Johnston
Police have arrested
41-year-old George Albert Jones late Thursday on charges of criminal
sexual
conduct with a minor in the first degree and other sex crimes. Police
were made aware of the alleged abuse of a child said to be nine
years of age on Wednesday. After investigating the matter warrants were
issued Thursday morning and Jones was in custody by nightfall.The discovery came after the young girl was taken to the Edgefield County Hospital earlier this week for a medical condition. Once tests confirmed the findings of the examination the Department of Social Services and law enforcement were notified Wednesday, police reports state. Very few details in the case have been released at this time due to the ongoing investigation. Jones is currently being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. ©
