![]() Paid for by the Candidate Argument ends in shots fired in Johnston web posted Apri 20, 2006 JOHNSTON – Monday night Johnston Police were called to a disturbance on Ridge Road that escalated to one with shots fired. Around 8:00 pm resident of the area called to report a large crowd of people and two hot arguments going on. Johnston Police arrived a short time later. Upon arrival, the crowd of people had dispersed but the two women were still arguing. The Officer told the women to calm down and stop cursing. The women continued to ignore the Officer after a second warning. A final warning gained their attention for a little while but then one of the women began again. The Officer then placed Audrey Punkin Kinard, 28, of Dove Street, Johnston under arrest for disorderly conduct. While trying to investigate the reported shooting at the same time the second woman began to yell curse words and she too was taken into custody for the same charges. She was identified as Donna McNiel Burke, 40, of Hill Drive, also of Johnston. According to the statements of the woman making the call to police, the two women began to have a very intense argument and a crowd gathered around to watch. As the argument went on, two males walked over from “next door” and began yelling and cussing at everyone saying “they own Ridge Road” just before two gunshots were fired. The woman stated she yelled she was calling the police and everyone ran away. The names of two men were given to police as possible identities of the men responsible for the gunfire, though the witness was not certain. For
