Strom Thurmond Career and Technology Center’s Cosmetology Students Compete in SkillsUSA Competition

web posted April 22, 2014

JOHNSTON – On April 4th four cosmetology students along with their instructor, Mrs. Kennion traveled to Greenville, South Carolina for the SkillsUSA competition. SkillsUSA is a national student organization promoting trade and industry training and professional development. Over 500 students from across South Carolina along with their instructors were present.

Two STCTC seniors competed against students from around the state while the two juniors observed the competition for next year. “SkillsUSA provides the opportunity for our students develop their technical and leadership skills” stated Mrs. Kennion. “The two seniors that competed did an outstanding job and represented Strom Thurmond Career & Technology Center well.”

Juniors, LeKindra West and Roseanna Johns attended the competition as observers to prepare for next year’s SkillsUSA competition.
