Edgefield man charged with indecent exposure and assault

web posted April 27, 2010
JOHNSTON – Johnston Police were called to the 300 block of Addison Street early Sunday morning after a woman reported a man taking off his clothes and jumping on the hood of her car and that of another person. When officer’s arrived they found Tyrone Wakefield Jr., 29, of Bauskett Street, Edgefield, fighting with another man. The two men were separated as officers investigated the incident.

The woman told officers that Wakefield had exposed himself when he removed his “shirt and pants throwing himself upon the hood of her vehicle” as she tried to leave, reports state.

As officer’s continued to investigate the incident Mr. Wakefield’s cousin began questioning officers as to why they were detaining his cousin and was told to back up while they conducted their investigation. Wakefield, reports state, took off running and was ordered to the ground or he would be “tazered” when he fell to the ground and was taken into custody.

Wakefield was charged with indecent exposure, simple assault and battery, and was also served four outstanding Magistrate Court bench warrants for his arrest.

The second man in the altercation was able to slip out of a patrol car and fled the scene. His identity was not listed in reports.

Wakefield has since been released on bond.

Requests for a booking photo of Mr. Wakefield from the Edgefield County Detention Center were not honored.
