  School bus and garbage truck involved in minor mishap web posted April 27, 2010 JOHNSTON – An Edgefield County School Bus and a sanitation truck were involved in a minor mishap Monday afternoon on Lanier Road Monday afternoon. As the two vehicles met each other on their scheduled routes, they passed within inches of each other causing their side mirrors to collide. Although the bus was carrying a few students at the time of the incident, none of the children were injured. The Johnston Police were called to the scene and by the time they arrived a worker for the school district was already replacing the mirrors on the school bus so the driver could continue on her route. Though the mishap did snarl traffic on Lanier Road for about half an hour, the garbage truck and the school bus continued on their assigned routes unabated. Johnston Police Chief Chris Aston said the damage was minimal and a report was taken to document the incident. Neither vehicle was stated as crossing the centerline at the time the incident took place. © Copyright 2010
