Johnston Police investigate alleged armed robbery
web
posted May 12, 2008
JOHNSTON – Johnston Police are
investigating an alleged armed robbery that took place in the early
morning hours of May 7. The 26-year-old Johnston woman told officers
she went to the Amoco Station on Addison Street around 1 am and found
the store closed. It was then she claimed she was approached by two
black males who demanded money.
The police report, obtained Friday afternoon, states once she realized
the store was closed, “she was then approached by two young black
males,” one wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans and the other
wearing a white shirt and jeans who began demanding money from her.
The two “proceeded to get her out of the car,” at which time she stated
she gave the men a total of $18. According to the report the men told
her they knew she had more money. The woman told police the man “in the
orange shirt started jumping on her and cutting her in the face with a
sharp object.”
The woman said she “kneed” the attacker “in the groin” and then kicked
his shin causing him to fall. It was then, reports indicate, the other
man fled the area and she jumped in her car and escaped and went to her
father’s house.
Reports indicated the woman did have scratches on her face when she
made the report.
The case remains active and is under further investigation. No suspects
were listed in police reports.
