Driver Flees Crash, Leaves Injured Passenger Behind

web posted May 24, 2014  7:25 pm

JOHNSTON Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies and EMS were called to a single vehicle crash on Highway 121 near Ridge Recyclers Saturday afternoon with a report of injuries. While they were enroute the caller stated the driver, a Hispanic male, was running from the scene and into the nearby woods.

Details are limited as the scene is still active, however; at least one occupant in the car was seriously injured and a helicopter called to transport the patient to the Trauma Center. The Trenton Fire Department set up a landing zone at Bettis Park for EMS to hand over the patient.

No other vehicles were reported to be involved. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
