Traffic stop results in arrest of three; two with outstanding narcotics warrants web posted June 14, 2006 JOHNSTON – While on routine patrol a Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a burgundy Ford Taurus on Lakeview Drive and none of the four occupants were wearing seatbelts. When the deputy started to make a traffic stop the car turned into a driveway and the deputy pulled in behind the car. After identifying the occupants it was discovered that two of the four had outstanding narcotics warrants for their arrest. As Johnston Police Officers also arrived at the location the two passengers in the back seat of the car were being removed from the car to be released officers noticed a plastic baggie sticking out of the pocket of one of the passengers. When officers inquired as to what was in the baggie the man pushed two officers and took off running. After a short foot chase, the man was apprehended but continued to fight with police. After a struggle and the use of pepper spray the man, Abin Lee Lowman, 28, of Lakeview Drive Johnston, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and resisting arrest. Also arrested at the scene was Michael Deon Norris, 25, of Ridge Road, Johnston, and a 16-year-old Edgefield female who both had outstanding narcotics warrants for their arrest. The fourth person in the car was released with no charges. Mr. Lowman was injured in the struggle with police and was taken to Aiken Regional Hospital for treatment before being booked into the Edgefield County Detention Center. Mr. Norris was also booked at the Detention Center and the 16-year-old female was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia. It is possible her charges will be upgraded to her being charged as an adult investigators said today. For
