Five charged in lynching and robbery web posted June 27, 2006 JOHNSTON – Five men are in custody, charged with lynching in the second degree and strong-arm robbery that occurred last weekend. According to police reports, Edgefield Police contacted the Johnston Police Department to report a man that had been allegedly been attacked and beaten by a group of men in Johnston then robbed. The Edgefield man claims he got a ride to a party that was taking place in Johnston on Ridge Road around 1 am on Saturday morning. When he arrived, he claimed several men approached him and began to curse him saying, “We’ll (deleted) kill you (deleted)! You don’t know who you are (deleted) with! You are in J-town!” The man told police that the men attacked him and beat him unconscious. He also alleged that at least two of the men placed guns in his face during the attack. While unconscious, the men are accused of stealing his tennis shoes, gold teeth fronts, and $40 in cash. Charged so far in the case are; Crooze Corstellous Watkins, 19; Marcus Antonio Williams, 17; Simoan Gordon, 19; Trevor Lydell Daniels, 20; Obryan D. Bussey, 19; and James Merriwether, 19. All five men have been charged with lynching in the second degree and strong-armed robbery. The men were arrested over the weekend and have already posted bond and been released. For
