Thieves take seven vehicles from storage yard

web posted June 27, 2007
JOHNSTON – A Johnston man notified the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office Monday afternoon reporting seven vehicles stolen from a storage location on Bland Baptist Road in Johnston. The theft is believed to have occurred over the past week.

It appeared, reports indicated, that the person or persons responsible entered the storage area with a wrecker or a trailer to revoke the vehicles. Reported stolen were the following; a brown 1981 Mazda RX-7, a blue four door two wheel drive 1987 Jeep Cherokee, a 1983-84 blue and wood grain four wheel drive four door Jeep Wagoner, a burgundy four door 1990 Mazda 626, a white Volkswagen Rabbit, a 1981 brown two door Chevette, and a brown 1971 two door Pontiac Grand Prix.

Anyone observing any of the above vehicles being towed from the Johnston area between Monday, June 18 and Monday, June 25 is asked to call the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office with the information.

The vehicles were valued between $200 and $1,000 each.

The case has been turned over to the Investigative Division of the Sheriff’s Office. According to available records it is the single largest number of vehicles stolen from one location in the last three years in Edgefield County.
