Woman reports assault with knife and gun web posted June 29, 2006 JOHNSTON – A Johnston woman approached a Sheriff’s Deputy while he was on a vehicle stop on Dove Street Monday evening. The woman told the deputy a man she gave a ride to assaulted her with a knife and a gun at the intersection of Highway 25 north and a dirt road just outside of Edgefield. The woman told the deputy that the man asked for a ride to Edgefield so he could pick up $200 he was owed and she obliged. After reaching the outskirts of Edgefield she claims the man instructed her to make a left turn on a dirt road. She stated, according to police reports, there were no trespassing signs up and refused to drive the man down the road. She claims the man then pulled out a butcher knife and placed it to her throat and demanded she drive. The woman told the deputy she jumped out of the car and began to run away when the man grabbed her until she broke free again. She then claimed in the incident report that the man then pulled a silver pistol and threatened to shoot her in the back. A car with two other people in it stopped and the woman said she jumped in that car to escape. While the people were trying to figure out what was going on the woman claims the exited that car and ran back to her car and drove away. Once she was away from the location, she discovered $119 she had in the car was missing, reports stated. The deputy asked if the woman sustained any injuries during the attack and she stated no. According to the incident report the woman said she did not want anything done about the matter. The case has been turned over for further investigation and the subject has been identified. For
