Johnston Police seek man in shooting incident
web
posted July 2, 2009
JOHNSTON – Johnston Police are
investigating a shooting incident that took place Saturday near the
popular John’s Club on Addison Street. According to official reports, a
woman called police just after 1 am claiming a man she approached
pulled a handgun, pointed it in her chest, then backed up a few feet
and fired three shots into the air.
At first the woman told police she did not feel threatened and just
thought the man was intoxicated and wanted to report the incident so
that he would not accidentally hurt someone else.
Police were able to locate the 33-year-old man and reports show he was
“extremely intoxicated” but did not have a weapon on him. The man
denied knowing anything about the incident.
Later, another witness stated he did not see the altercation but
confirmed three shots being fired from the location the suspect was
standing. The victim later told officers she did fear for her life
after time passed in the investigation.
Johnston Police are seeking a warrant for the man’s arrest, but as of
Wednesday night no arrest had been made jail officials said. According
to incident reports charges could include assault and battery with the
intent to kill and discharge of a firearm in the town limits. The type
of warrants sought was not confirmed.
