Car thefts continue web posted July 26, 2007 JOHNSTON – A Johnston woman called the Sheriff’s Office to report a car being stolen from her Hilltop Drive home around 4:30 am Wednesday morning. The woman told deputies she heard a noise outside and when she looked out she saw a light blue truck towing the 1988 grey Ford Taurus away from the home. The woman told police that there were no liens on the vehicle. The woman was unable to provide a tag number or further description of the wrecker. Deputies gathered all the information on the car which has a SC license plate of 805 HRM. This makes the eighth vehicle stolen in recent weeks across the county. Edgefield County Chief Investigator Randy Doran said that the Sheriff’s Office has been able to locate six of the vehicles at salvage yards in Augusta Georgia and will be making arrests in those cases soon.
