Copper Thieves Burglarize Weaver Road Home

web posted August 20, 2014

JOHNSTON   A Trenton woman going by to check on a property she is having remodeled arrived to find the back door had been pried open and when she entered wiring was hanging out of the walls and ceilings. That's when she called 911 to report the burglary.

A deputy arrived and inspected the home and the damage and called for an investigator to process the scene for evidence due to the damage and the stolen wiring, some of which was left behind.

In addition to ;pulling the wiring from the walls and ceiling, electric hand tools had their cords cut off as well. The woman told deputies she checked on the house the day before and all the wiring had just been completed.

Some of the wiring was found rolled up inside a plastic tote that was used to store the hand tools, left behind either by mistake or due to the burglars being spooked and leaving in a hurry.

Once on the scene the investigator took over the case, which is under active investigation.
