Vision 20/20 Kick-Off Meeting Scheduled web posted August 29, 2007 JOHNSTON – The Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Edgefield County Council will conduct a public forum on Monday, September 17, 2007 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at J-E-T Middle School located at 1095 Columbia Road (SC Hwy. 23) between Edgefield and Johnston. This will be the first of five meetings that lead to the completion of the Edgefield County Vision 20/20 Plan. The plan will be a working document that will identify goals and objectives that will enhance the positive growth of Edgefield County. Components of the plan will include, but not limited to, educational opportunities, economic development, health care, public safety, quality of life and various social issues. Representatives of the S.C. Department of Commerce's Rural Development Division will facilitate the public forum. These representatives have been successful in assisting other counties with this similar planning process. "We hope the citizens from every corner of Edgefield County will participate in this forum so we can incorporate their concerns and advice into this plan," said John Culbertson, Chairman of the Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce. "The completion of this plan and its implementation will also qualify Edgefield County for rural development funds that can be used to improve the quality of life in the county," said Monroe Kneece, Chairman of Edgefield County Council. "This plan will assist in positioning our county to compete more aggressively on future economic development projects that will impact the citizens of our community," said Bettis Rainsford, Chairman of the Edgefield County Economic Development Committee.
