Johnston couple burglarized twice in two
days Edgefielddaily.com web posted September 20, 2005 JOHNSTON – A Johnston couple awoke to find their home had been burglarized during the night Thursday morning last week. According to police reports Mrs. Triplett stated she and her husband awoke to find both sets of her car keys on the steps to their front door. As they began to look around the home they noticed a camera and her pocketbook missing. As they continued to search they also discovered a .22 caliber rifle and one hundred dollars in cash were gone. Johnston Police Officer Wooten responded to the burglary and was unable to determine who had entered the home while the couple slept. It is believed someone found a key to the house that was hidden in case they locked themselves out of the house. The total value of the missing items was estimated at approximately five hundred dollars. The next day Officer Wooten was returning from a call on Ridge Road and while passing the couple’s Sunset Drive home noticed a window open and investigated with Chief Easler. Johnston Police found no one in the home and had Edgefield County Deputy Reel contact the owners who returned a few hours later. After searching the home Mrs. Triplett discover two one hundred dollar bills had been taken as well as twenty dollars in state quarters. The case is still ongoing and has been turned over to Johnston Investigator Robinson. Reports state whoever entered the home had tracked grass on the floor.
