Vision 20/20 Kick-Off a Success

web posted September 21, 2007
JOHNSTON – The Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce sponsored a public forum on Monday, September 17, 2007 at J-E-T Middle School. More than fifty elected officials and citizens attend this very important meeting to discuss the future of Edgefield County.

Ed West and Jon Baggett of the S.C. Department of Commerce's Rural Development Division facilitated the public forum, and three areas of interest were brought to the forefront for improving Edgefield County.  Education, Economic Development and Quality of Life will now become the focus groups for the follow-up meetings.

These focus group meetings are scheduled for October 1, 15 and 29 and November 12 at J-E-T Middle School, which is located at 1095 Columbia Road (SC Hwy. 23) between Edgefield and Johnston, starting at 6:30 PM.

It is important to have as many citizens participate in these focus group meetings as possible because this is where the ideas from the Kick-Off will be turned into specific goals that are achievable and measurable.

"If you were not able to attend the Kick-Off, we still want your participation in these follow-up meetings," said John Culbertson, Chairman, Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce.  "Even if you cannot attend all of these focus group sessions, please participate in the ones you can."

Dr. Culbertson also has a special request for younger citizens.  "We especially want participation from high school leaders and young adults," said John Culbertson.  "They are the future of Edgefield County, and their input is vital."
