  Six injured in three car crash in Johnston web posted September 25, 2008 Below: Two of the injured are loaded in the helicopter for transport  JOHNSTON – A total
of six people were
treated for injuries following a three-car collision Wednesday evening
at the intersection of Addison Street and Edisto Street. According to
information gathered at the scene, a white Saturn sedan driven by a
Hispanic male traveling East on Addison Street failed to stop at the
stop sign and was broadsided by a silver Nissan truck traveling North
on Edisto Street. The third vehicle, a maroon Chevrolet Malibu that was
stopped at the opposite stop sign facing west on Addison Street, was
then struck following the initial collision. Following the
initial call for help just before 7 p.m., units from
Edgefield County EMS, the Johnston Fire Department, Johnston Police
officers and Edgefield County Sheriff's Office deputies all responded
to the scene.Two male passengers in the Saturn were entrapped and had to be removed from the vehicle via the Jaws of Life after the car was first pulled free from the truck. The two men were then taken by ambulance to a landing area at the corner of Bland Baptist Road and Highway 23 where they were flown to the MCG Trauma Unit in Augusta, Georgia, by an Air Med helicopter. The extent of their injuries was not known. The additional four patients were treated on the scene or transported by ambulance to be treated for more serious injuries. Rescue workers and police were on the scene for over an hour. The Citizen News contributed to this report. ©
