Over a dozen arrested as second sweep for wanted suspects in a week
takes place in Johnston
web
posted September 26, 2008
JOHNSTON – The Edgefield County Sheriff’s
Office and Johnston Police were involved in a warrant service sweep on
Thursday night that took a number of wanted suspects off the streets
and into custody. The sweep began around 7 pm and lasted around three
hours and required the Sheriff’s Office to bring an inmate
transportation van to the area to assist in transporting those arrested
to the county jail.
This is the second sweep recently as Edgefield Police arrested five
suspects last Thursday in similar sweep.

The sweep in Johnston was a bit more productive for area law
enforcement agencies with between 12 to 14 suspects being transported
to the Edgefield County Detention Center for outstanding arrest
warrants. The joint efforts of the Johnston Police Department, Johnston
Police Chief Chris Aston, and the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office
were used during the round up.
Details were not available as jail officials were still in the process
of booking those arrested into custody as late as midnight Thursday.

information becomes available.
