Vandal damages several cars in Johnston

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted September 27, 2005

JOHNSTON – Several cars on Lee Street, in Johnston, were vandalized by what is assumed a ride by keying on a bicycle to at least five cars. Officer Fred Bryant informed Officer David Willis that a car had been vandalized at Jim Satcher Motor’s on 511 Calhoun Street but not reported at the time. Officer Willis contacted the owners and found they were unaware of the damage. Upon further investigation he found there were several cars in the area that had been damaged as well.

The scratched cars all had about a 1/8” deep scratch that bore down to the metal. Officer Willis determined the damage was “intentional” and noticed a “thin/narrow mountain bike type tire impression,” that was also found along the side of the four other damaged vehicles.

Damage to the vehicles were; a 2006 Chrysler 300 four door damaged both sides at the rear; a 2005 Ford Explorer pick-up damaged on the passenger side rear door; a 2005 Ford F-150 pick-up damaged on the driver’s side rear door; a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up damaged on the driver’s side door and bed area; and a 2006 Ford F-150 damaged on the passenger rear door area.

Damage to each vehicle was stated to be about $1,000 per vehicle for a total of $5,000 in damages. There were no reported suspects in the case at this time.
