No action taken at Johnston Town Council
special called meeting Edgefielddaily.com web posted September 30, 2005 JOHNSTON – The Johnston Town Council held a special called meeting on Wednesday night to discuss a possible disciplinary action involving a member of the police department. Mayor Campbell told Edgefield Daily.com that the meeting was basically an “informational” meeting in executive session and that “no votes were taken” in the matter. Edgefield Daily.com is following our leads and is digging further into reports in the matter. Mayor Dean Campbell stated the meeting opened and was voted into executive session, a discussion was held, and then reconvened the meeting stating no votes were taken and no action was taken in open session. The meeting was then adjourned. Mayor Campbell would not comment on the identification of the officer or the reports surrounding him as described by Edgefield Daily.com. Reports we have received state the situation is a developing situation and that SLED may be opening an investigation. SLED will not comment on any investigation or to if an investigation is about to begin. Edgefield Daily.com is following up on leads and may soon have names associated to the incident made available through public records in Aiken County. We will provide more reports as more information is made available.
