 Crash blocks highway for five hours web posted September 30, 2006  JOHNSTON – An early
morning crash blocked Highway 121 in Johnston for
several hours while wreckers worked to clear the scene. Just after 7 am
Friday morning a tractor-trailer truck towing two trailers overturned
blocking the roadway. The driver said a car pulled out in front of him
and he swerved off the shoulder to avoid the car. With the early
morning dew making the grass shoulder slippery the driver lost control
of the truck. The driver was not injured in the crash. Johnston
Police and Edgefield County Deputies blocked traffic and set
up a detour around the scene until wrecker crews could rite the truck
and trailers and haul them away. The highway was blocked for over five hours before the wreckage could be cleared and the highway reopened. For
