![]() Man turns himself in for vandalism web posted November 7, 2006 JOHNSTON – A Johnston woman called police to report someone throwing a flowerpot through her kitchen window around 2 am Sunday morning. A Sheriff’s Deputy and a Johnston Police Officer responded to the scene and the Johnston Officer saw a black male fleeing from the scene on foot. The officer gave chase but lost the man in a nearby wooded area. The woman could offer no descriptive information on the suspect. After the deputy arrived it was noted a plastic flowerpot indeed had been picked up from outside the home and thrown through the window. The deputy continued to patrol the area looking for the man spotted by the Johnston Officer. About twenty minutes later the deputy was flagged down by a man on Railroad Avenue in Johnston. When the deputy stopped to speak to the man, Jeremy A. Morton, 28, of the 200 block of Edisto Street, told the deputy he was the man they were looking for. According to police reports, Mr. Martin said he broke the window due to being angry with an unnamed girlfriend. Mr. Martin was taken into custody and booked into the Edgefield County Detention Center on the charge of malicious injury to real property with damages under $500. The damage to the window was estimated at $100. The case has been closed. For
