JOHNSTON – A Johnston woman was one of the many victims of the Tuesday morning shooting and carjacking at the Huddle House on Edgefield Road at I-20. In the shooting Mr. William Powell, 61 of North Augusta was killed and Rev. Earl Carter, of Graniteville, and Constance Davidson, 59, of Belvedere  were wounded and are being treated at MCG. The man, a white male who was described as being around 5 feet 10 inches with facial hair and a slender build, then preceded to carjack Johnston resident Ida Mae Heath’s car reports said.

Mrs. Heath was not injured and was said to have been shaken up. Her 1991 Oldsmobile 98 was found later less than a mile away at the Sleep Inn on Edgefield Road. Authorities are still searching for the man they describe as, “extremely dangerous.” Anyone who spots the man is asked not to approach him and to call 911 and notify local authorities of his location.

North Augusta Police Chief Lee Wetherington stated the man has already killed one individual and shot two others in a random act of violence makes him that much more dangerous.
