One man shot, two arrested in home robbery in Johnston
web posted November 30, 2005

JOHNSTON – Two men have been arrested in the late night shooting that took place in Johnston Monday night while one remains at large. Arrested in the home robbery turned shooting was Randy Michael Coleman Jr., 18, of Johnston and a juvenile who was not identified due to his age. The third man, Durante Bush, 24 of Johnston, is wanted for questioning in connection to the case and he has not been located at this writing.

Initial reports from the scene stated one of the victims had been shot in the head. After EMS arrived and began treating the victim the blood covering his face and head was actually transferred as he placed his hands over the wound to his hip and then placing them on his head and face sources stated. The victim of the shooting was bleeding heavily.

According to police reports obtained from the Johnston Police Department three men were sitting in the living room of a home on the 200 block of Johnson Street around 11:00 pm when three men with ski-masks over their faces knocked on the door and then burst into the home firing one shot into the wall and ordering everyone to the floor after striking one of the guests in the home with a pistol. The alleged robbers then demanded the wallets of the three men inside the home while also taking personal property and jewelry.

As the three masked men made their way to the back door one of them was tackled by the victims. It was during the ensuing struggle that the victim was shot in the hip. The three victims were able to take the weapon away from the suspect. The three masked men then ran from the scene before police arrived.

Two of the men, Mr. Coleman and the juvenile were arrested a short time later and Mr. Bush, who is thought to be the ringleader of the group, is still at large.

Police recovered two pistols and other items at the crime scene.

The investigation is continuing. More charges are said to be possible for all of the men accused in the crime.
