Tidwell's Holds Ribbon Cutting at Expanded Johnston Location

web posted November 30, 2012

JOHNSTON – Tidwell Jewelers held a ribbon cutting Thursday afternoon to open the expanded Johnston location that has doubled the size of the popular jewelry and fine gifts store. Owner Danny Tidwell said with the expansion the location is now nearly 5,000 square feet of jewelry, watches, fine china, gifts and more. It also increased the workshop area of the store for in-store repairs or custom creation of a piece designed just for you.

Tidwell Jewelers has been in business dating back to the 1930's, Danny Tidwell said. His father started the company long before coming to Johnston. The current Johnston location was opened in 1987, though a previous Johnston location was opened in the mid 1970's.

The expansion of the Johnston location allows the display of far more jewelry and other gift items and an expanded Bridal Registry area. "We're very excited," Linda Tidwell said prior to the ribbon cutting. That excitement was echoed by the throngs of those attending the ribbon cutting including Johnston Mayor Andy Livingston and Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce Director Donna Livingston.

Although there are three Tidwell locations in the area with stores in Johnston, Leesville, and Saluda, the Johnston location is the main anchor of the business.

All sales associates are not paid on commission, which prevents high pressure sales that are found in other jewelry businesses. The low overhead also allows Tidwell's to offer the finest in jewelry or gifts at the best prices available.

With the expanded location, Tidwell's continues to offer better service of in house repairs, custom designs, castings, stone settings, pearl stringing, engraving and watch repairs. A one stop shop to meet all your needs.

Showcase product lines also include well known names such as Lenox, Kameleon, Lafonn, Caerleon, Novell, Noritake, Mikasa and Oneida.

In addition to name brands, Tidwell's has gifts that can fit into anyone's budget, large or small. And with a gift being in a Tidwell's box, the recipient knows you bought the very best.

The expansion also comes while the Tidwell Jewelers and Edgefield Daily Christmas Give-Away is underway. Two lucky winners will receive either a $500 grand prize with a second place winner receiving a $250 gift certificate.
