Sarah's Angels Helping Santa event a success

web posted December 11, 2006

JOHNSTON – JET Middle School was teeming with the Christmas Spirit Saturday as Sarah’s Angels Helping Santa held a huge sale and raffles throughout the day. Debbie Courtney, who founded the organization ten years ago, said in the past the group has served twenty needy families with Christmas presents and this year hopes to expand to serve even more. Ms. Courtney was brought to tears when presented with a check for $250 from her students. Mr. McKinney’s Show Choir provided entertainment for those shopping and bringing gifts.

Ms. Courtney said Sarah’s Angels Helping Santa will continue to take donations or unwrapped toys through December 20. Gift or donations will be received at JET Middle School. For more information call 803-275-1997 or 803-275-1677. The groups name is in honor of Ms. Courtney’s mother who passed away two years ago.

The STH Show Choir performed several musical and dance numbers and were backed up by “Thompson’s Gang”, a band led by Mat Herring. The group, who has been practicing only a short time before their first production, did a wonderful job and received the accolades of those attending.
