Recovered bike possible link to  break-in

web posted December 19, 2006

JOHNSTON – A bicycle stolen from Bledsoe Auto Sales on Wednesday may have been recovered on Saturday police reports indicate. A Johnston man called police when he discovered a bicycle fitting the description of the one reported stolen earlier in the week on the front porch of his Calhoun Street home around 9 am when he came outside.

Johnston Police retrieved the bike and contacted the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Investigators to confirm whether or not it was indeed the one stolen. No information was available on Monday to the identification of the bicycle.

Mrs. Bledsoe, with Bledsoe Auto Sales, said Monday that when they returned home from church last Wednesday night they noticed two individuals “acting suspicious” near the business. An earlier report on EdgefieldDaily.com stated the suspect wore a black trench coat. Mrs. Bledsoe said the slender built black male wore a tan or beige coat. “The other one was about 4 to 5 foot tall,” she said. She was not sure what type of clothes the second individual wore.

‘Where they were just seemed real suspicious,” Mrs. Bledsoe said. The second possible suspect was pushing a dark colored bike, not the one reported stolen she said.
