Ho Ho Huh? Johnston man gets Christmas visit from burglars, not Santa
web posted December 29, 2005

JOHNSTON – A Johnston man who has been recovering from a stroke got a visit for Christmas, however his was not from Santa but a burglar. The man returned the day after Christmas from being in the hospital recovering from a stroke for the past two weeks. When he got to the home on the 200 block of Addison Street he discovered his back door had been broken into.

Johnston Police Officer Fred Bryant responded to the call and found the home had been burglarized. The man reported five hundred dollars in cash was missing as well as a cookie jar that contained an unknown amount of money and receipts. Also missing were two bottles of wine and a “few beers”.

The burglar(s) drank two beers and left the cans sitting on a table. Officer Bryant retrieved the cans and placed them into evidence. It appeared the person or persons responsible also riffled through several tapes but did not take any.

The case has been passed on to investigators for follow up. The value of the wine was reported at fifteen dollars. The total amount of money and goods were listed as $520. The amount of damage to the door was not reported.
