![]() Tasers, new Pub among items addressed by Johnston Town Council web posted January 9, 2007 JOHNSTON – The Johnston Town Council addressed several matters during their January meeting. Among them was a request by the Johnston Jaycees to close the Municipal Parking Lot and certain streets for the Peach Blossom Parade. The measure was approved unanimously. Also under consideration was the cost of striping of parking spaces at the parking lot, which in the recent past was done by the state. According to Administrator Olin Gambrel the state quit providing the service and the town has to approve the funds. The bid approved was for $1,506.94 by Martin Striping, of Johnston. The Johnston Town Council also approved for the approval of a grant to seek Tasers for the Johnston Police Department, which have just recently been implemented in the Town of Edgefield. The approval was granted. Administrator Gambrel said Police Chief Chris Aston was working on the policy and procedure manual that would have to be approved before deploying the weapon and training would also have to be given to all officers. A New business was also announced; an “Irish Pub” has assumed the location of the old Sawyer Alley Restaurant and should be open by the first of February. For
