Democrats Show Their Lack of Common Sense

By: Carl Langley
web posted June 16, 2008
GUEST COLUMN – It’s bad enough that the liberal Democrats now have Americans by the throat in both House and Senate, but it’s worse when you consider the fact that their numbers likely will be increased after the November elections.

Playing to the fears of the American people, rightfully so when you consider the dismal performance of George W. Bush as president, the Democrats are putting themselves in position to wreck what is left of the economy.

I refer here to their demands that the “windfall profits” of oil companies be taxed to the fullest amount possible, and they are raising the fears of “big oil” to justify what, if it comes to pass in the form of a massive tax increase, may well be the executioner’s sword for our economy.

I watched on television Tuesday afternoon as a gaggle of Democrats and their best buddy, the so-called independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, take on the oil companies and vow to tax the energy providers to within an inch of their souls.

What the Democrats are refusing to tell the voting public, most of which is as stupid as the Democrats are conniving and nefarious, is that there is no such thing as a windfall profit in the sale of gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene and other petroleum products to the American people.

Admittedly, the oil companies are taking in a lot more money than they expend for crude oil, but the money isn’t going into the pockets of the oil executives. The profits are being plowed back into investments in the search for more oil.

And to be even more specific, the profits are diverted into the stock portfolios held by hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of American citizens who are vested in pension funds and put their money into mutual funds and other stock offerings.

The Democrats, by failing to tell the full story, are misleading the American people in the worst kind of ways. They are turning the people against the very companies that have enabled this country to become the biggest and best nation in the history of the world.

I want to throw up when I see Sanders, only a step away from being a full time communist, and fellow senators preen for the cameras and demand the heads of oil company executives in the form of massive tax increases, as if that would do anything to cure oil shortages and cut prices My guess is that most of their money would be shipped to Africa and other world pestholes to prop up the dictators that run them.

Sanders and his ilk are as dumb as door knobs and if forced to work in the private sector would starve to death. All Americans who are smart enough to know what is really going on in the world economy should reject these miserable politicians for what they really are - parasites, beggars and liars who are interested only in themselves. They are aided and abetted by another worthless group, the government bureaucrats who put their jobs ahead of the people they serve.

May a pox fall upon all of these miserable scoundrels.
