Letter to the Editor

Dog Owners Thank Edgefield Daily for Return of Family Pet

web posted January 1, 2013

Dear Editor,
Dooley has been found (12.29.12)! He was spotted Friday by an employee at the big refueling station at the corner of Sweetwater Rd/Currytown Rd and I received a call on my cell. He was so traumatized by his 6 days of running and living in the woods, it took several family members and friends to chase him down in a large adjacent field; it was quite an ending and reunion!!!

It's week long story that is almost Goodmorning America-worthy! He has lost about 10 lbs, scratched up, and obviously very tired but should be ok after lots of love and rest on the sofa. I wanted, if possible, for you to place something in the ads thanking everyone for all of the help we received in our search.

We had so many calls of Dooley-sightings and concern, it was amazing. Also, the ad in your paper is really what caused us to change our search from concentrating on the HWY 25 farm area to the Mt. Vintage/Sweetwater Rd area after a call from a Mt Vintage resident that read the ad. She was talking with a friend in Mt Vintage that mentioned seeing a dog fitting that description in her back yard (an unusual thing to see an off-leash dog there!) That person called my cell phone on a "long-shot" that it could be the same dog and the rest is history!

A HUGE "thank you" for helping bring our beloved pet home!!!

Dr. & Mrs. C.F. Johnson
