Letter to the Editor

Writer Defends Letter Criticizing Gingrich

web posted January 20, 2012

Dear Editor,
First let me say thank you and congratulations to Mr. Pugh for his service to our Great Nation. As you well know I will never attack the character of or disrespect another veteran. It seems that Mr. Pugh and I only address him as mister out of respect for my elders and I don't know or have ever heard of him. I was stating facts that I know about Newt Gingrich.

He chose not to serve his country and has had three different wives. I myself have been divorced, but not because I had an affair with someone that worked for me and divorced to marry her Which Newt Gingrich did. Also the other facts that I know about Newt Gingrich is that during his tenure as a Congressman and Speaker of the House, Veterans benefits were deeply cut and Veterans health care became one of the sorriest in the history of the VA and millions of Americans jobs were lost because these same politicians gave companies tax breaks and allowed the to outsourced our jobs outside of the USA.

I am one of the many veterans who fought for and saw health care and needs of all veterans  improve. That has always be one of my passions. To insure that all veterans received the care and recognition that they deserve and earned. Secondly Mr. Pugh stated that Ron Paul was drafted into the Air Force.

Unless the draft rules changed before in entered the U.S. Army in 1970 and served until 1979, the only services that anyone was drafted into was either the Army or the Marine Corps. The Navy and Air Force only took volunteers because they required you to serve a minimum of four years active duty where as those drafted only were required to serve two years which the Navy and Air Force did not allow.

Also understand there is a difference in a Vietnam Era  Veteran and a boots on the ground Vietnam Veteran which I am. Even though the era veterans served during the Vietnam War they never left the USA and were mostly REMF's. I know that it takes all fields of service to have a complete military.

Yes I guess I'm a little arrogant in that I hold all military service men and women in higher regard than I do those who refused to or would not serve.

As you also know I have never endorsed or supported any Political candidate. I vote for who I feel will do the best job for al of Americans and not just the party they serve.

I pray for Mr. Pugh that his misguided judgment will not cause Our Country to fall further than it has already fall under the leadership of such politicians as Newt Gingrich.

Remember what politicians helped Americans jobs to be sent outside of our borders.

I you are a true red blooded American, quit buying foreign made products and only purchase items made in the USA.

May God Bless Mr. Pugh and forgive him for his blindness of the poor moral values that Newt Gingrich possess. And that Mr. Pugh will get involved in the improvement of our Community, State and Nation. To sit back and do or say nothing is to condone their actions.

May God continue to bless The USA and guide us back to a moral God fearing Country.
