Former county employee rails against former county administrator
posted January 23, 2009
I was done wrong by (former Edgefield County Administrator) Wayne Adams
when I worked for Edgefield County. I started as an appraiser, and
worked in the tax assessors office for two years. I was promoted
to the Building Dept. when one of their workers left. I was doing a
good job, and mainly trying to help the residents of Edgefield.
The zoning had come into affect and many people were against it, and
wanted to know what they could do. I read the laws and bylaws, and even
had them explained to me by the attorney for Edgefield.
At the second meeting a citizen came with questions and saying the
zoning wasn't fair in his area. He was right. When I agreed with the
man, and started to go to a zoning hearing with him, Wayne Adams fired
me. With no notice. He just called my office by telephone, and told me
to leave, pack my boxes.
How unfair this was, however there was nothing legal I could do, as I
had only been in the position five and a half months, and you have to
be their six, before they can fire you for no reason. Mr. Adams told me
over the phone, if I didn't leave within thirty minutes he would have a
police man come up and escort me.
I knew at this time that Wayne Adams was not a fair or justice man, and
I went to work for another county, about three months later.
I hope yall can dig up on all the trash of Wayne Adams, as he is not a
public servant, he only watches out for himself, and what he can get.
This happened in the year 2000.
