Writer claims electoral college should be removed
posted February 11, 2008
I watched the “Super Tuesday” election returns very closely!
During the coverage, the question was raised, “What could be done to
increase voter turn-out ?” I would like to use this letter to state
what I view is a very big
turn-off to our elections in the U.S.A.! I truly believe this
“delegate system”, for choosing the parties’ nominees, and this
archaic, out-dated “electoral college” for choosing our, I repeat; our
president are major, major turn-offs to our elections in the U.S.A. !
Please, ask yourself, “Are these out-dated processes really, I MEAN
REALLY “one person one vote” ??!! Are these processes really
“democracy in action” ??!! Have you ever watched more than a
couple of hours of television coverage of The National Nominating
Conventions ? These look like “frat parties on steroids” !!
Again, is this really democracy ?
As for the archaic, out-dated “electoral college”, “I had one heck of a
time even understanding it when I was in Civics class in high school
!!” I ask you, “After well over 200 years of electing presidents,
Isn’t It Well Past Time For Each American Voter To Count Toward
Electing Our, I Repeat; Our President ??!!”
If Our Government Truly Wants More Voter Turn-Out, “Then I Vote For
“One American One Vote”, Absolute Democracy !!”
What say you, America ?
