Letter to the Editor
Writer supports Mayor Campbell for re-election web posted March 14, 2006 Dear Editor, The Mayor of Johnston, Dean Campbell, is running for re-election on April 4th. Due to his outstanding leadership ability our town has prospered. I am writing this letter to remind the citizens of Johnston of his accomplishments. A new library ten times larger than the old one is now in our historic warehouse, called the Edwards Building. Dean has improved our town by taking an unused building and made it into a thriving part of the town. Dean also improved the looks of downtown through a major streetscape project that added fifty antique lights, mast arms for traffic signals, lighted street signs, underground wiring and new sidewalks. In the past several years, he worked to upgrade fire and police department equipment. For example, two new fire trucks and a fire service truck, along with new fire equipment, fire gear and training, has made our Fire Department one of the best prepared in the County. He has also made sure the town purchased a new fleet of police cars, new uniforms and new weapons for the Police Department. Please vote for quality leadership on April 4th so our town will continue to prosper. Linda Smith Johnston, SC For
