ECDA thanks Edgefield and Edgefield County councils for support
web
posted March 16, 2010
Dear Editor:
On behalf of the Edgefield Community Development Association we would
like to thank the Edgefield Town Council as well as the Edgefield
County Council for their generous financial support in helping sponsor
our year long community events planned in celebration of 225 years of
historic Edgefield and Edgefield County.
In March 1785, the South Carolina General Assembly passed the statue
dividing the Old Ninety Six District into a number of counties, one of
which was Edgefield County. For those that are history buffs, the
Town of Johnston was formed in 1870 and the Town of Trenton was formed
in the 1880’s according to the Tomkins Library – a wonderful Edgefield
County resource full of genealogical history.
On Saturday, March 20th the Edgefield’s Birthday Bash will be held at
the Edgefield Gym located at 380 Church Street to kickoff our year long
celebration. Tickets are still available for $17.50 each in
advance or $20.00 at the door. Doors open at 7pm with live music
by the Key West Band starting at 8pm. There will be heavy hors
d’oeuvres and a cash bar. All ages are welcome; however we will
be checking ID’s for those that will be drinking alcoholic
beverages. This will be a fun-filled evening and also a great way
to enjoy the first day of spring after our long winter!
Our next event celebrating our 225 years will be a family fun day on
the Edgefield Square on Saturday, May 22nd. Please watch the paper for
further details on this event.
2010 is going to be a great year full of exciting and fun events
celebrating our wonderful 225 years of history and the Edgefield
Community Development Association would like to thank all the citizens
that support us as an organization as well as our individual
businesses. For further information, please see our website at
www.VisitEdgefield.com
Sincerely,
Sharon Nunamaker, president
Jane Bess, Board Member
Pamela Moore, vice-president
Becky Turner, Board Member
Jerry Galloy, treasurer
Melissa Hoffman, secretary
