Writer supports taxpayer funds for Tompkins Library
web
posted April 1, 2009
Dear Editor:
I think it's possible that you and the other good people of Edgefield
may not realize the value of something that you have. The old
Edgefield District Genealogical Society is nothing less than a
treasure, and from my background in economic development, one of the
best things that you have going for you. On March 11, I made my
first of hopefully, many visits to Edgefield.
The knowledgeable staff and volunteers at the Society spent several
hours helping me with information on my Edgefield ancestors. I
was so impressed with their kindness and professionalism that I joined
the Society, prepaid my membership until 2015, purchased framed photos
of Edgefield, and paid to have dozens of pages copied.
I purchased food, gas, and would have bought Tom Chandler pottery
reproductions, had they been available. The Society volunteers
and staff serve as outstanding ambassadors for your community, and
because of them, I will return to spend more time in Edgefield.
The Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society is a light under a
bushel. Please continue to let it shine.
Sincerely,
L.N. Chandler,III
Swiftown, MS
